Can I get a refund if I cancel or rearrange my holiday due to the coronavirus?
We understand, your flights just got cancelled due to the impact the Coronavirus has had. But what now?
We'd like to start off by saying that unforeseen circumstances are just that, unforeseen and insurance policies can be complex to understand. This is why we pride ourselves on offering our clients the best possible brokerage and assistance policy-holders can get.
What factors are important in circumstances like this?
1. Destination
If your travels where going to be in a country classified as a 'red-zone' chances are your flights have been cancelled by the airline. (ie. Italy)
The majority of airlines understand the losses that flyers are making due to these cancellations and are more often than not either offering: - A full refund.
- Credit valid for 12 months.
We suggest checking what help you can get from the airline prior to your travel insurer as they might be able to offer assistance and a refund without the need of a claim.
2. Booking Dates
There's a difference cancelling flights bought DURING the period of the Coronavirus VS quite a while before the Coronavirus really started to get known. The trend we've seen is that insurers are looking at this on a 'case by case' basis. Get in touch with us HERE for more insight.
